Introducing our head coach for 2024

Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently.

—Satyam Verma, Head Coach, St. George’s Tennis Club

We are excited to welcome Satyam Verma as our head coach this 2024 season!

Satyam is a certified Club Professional 2 with 5+ years of coaching experience. Born in India, he embarked on a journey that led him to Halifax in 2016, where he pursued a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University. Tennis is a sport that has held a special place in his heart since the age of 8. He has represented his school team and clinched multiple provincial and national trophies. His involvement in tennis evolved from being a nationally ranked junior in India to captaining Saint Mary’s University Tennis Team for 3 years. Under his captaincy in 2020, the team qualified for the first time to compete for Nationals at the Rogers Cup in Toronto by becoming the Provincial Champion.

Satyam is currently the Adult Program Coordinator at Sobey’s Atlantic Tennis Centre and also assists/leads Junior High-Performance Programs. His love for tennis and teaching can be seen every time he steps on the court. He credits his love of seeing students excel as the prime motivation for choosing tennis as his career and feels that the range of experiences enables him to tackle the role of Head Pro at St. George’s Club.
