St. George’s offers tennis lessons for junior members from the beginning of the season in May through the end of August, as well as twice-weekly sessions in September. St. George’s employs coaches certified by Tennis Canada to provide age appropriate instruction for children ages 5 and up.

For younger participants (age 10 and under), we enthusiastically follow the Progressive Tennis model as recommended by Tennis Canada. This program uses modified equipment (smaller nets, softer balls, lighter racquets) to ensure that smaller players are able to enjoy tennis quickly and focus upon movement and skill development! You can learn more about this program here: https://www.tenniscanada.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/EnglishNewProgressiveTennisGuide.pdf.

The St. George’s junior program also offers Team Tennis – a weekly friendly competitive session where our juniors put their skills to work in a supportive and encouraging environment. There are often opportunities to compete with junior members of other clubs throughout the province. In late August, St. George’s holds a junior tournament - an excellent way for juniors to end the summer with their friends.

Apart from our lessons, the club offers several other opportunities for our junior members throughout the year, such as Rookie Tours (fun events for Progressive Tennis participants to play with children from outside the club) and clinics!
